PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — A school district in Florida's Panhandle putting an extra emphasis on a feeding program for students in areas still recovering from Hurricane Michael.

Bay County's deputy superintendent of schools Sandra Davis tells the News Herald that the agency wants to make sure students are taken care of while school is out of session. The feeding program takes place every year, but she says this year they want to make sure that parents will have less to worry about in the aftermath of the October 2018 storm.

She says there will be 21 feeding sites offering breakfast and lunch for students 18 and under. Students don't have to sign up or enroll in a program to obtain a meal. The program runs through summer break, Monday through Friday.
