BUFFALO. N.Y. (WKBW) — The Florida grandmother of the three-year-old boy found abandoned on the porch of a Buffalo home has been granted custody of the toddler.

An Erie County Family Court judge said it is in the best interest of Noelvin to return to his family. The judge called the decision a "temporary order."

The boy will be allowed to return to Florida with Zenaida Colon, who successfully completed a background check and home visit.

Colon's son, Miguel Anthony Valentin-Colon, his girlfriend Nicole Merced Plaud, and their friend, Dhamyl Mirella Roman-Audiffred, have been missing since September 15. The three adults and the boy traveled by car from Orlando to the Buffalo area.

Police found their burned-out rental car with two bodies inside on Tonawanda Street, a mile away from where Noelvin was found in a box on the front porch of a home September 16.

Last week, Buffalo police released video that shows two people of interest walking away from the scene of the car fire with Noelvin. Police say it could take weeks to identify the remains.
