The Florida Forest Service shared heart-stopping pictures of a 500-plus acre fire that firefighters are battling in the pan handle.

"The tremendous amount of downed trees left in the wake of #HurricaneMichael is making suppression efforts difficult," they wrote along with the pictures. "Twenty-three personnel, eight bulldozers, one Florida Forest Service helicopter, one fixed-wing aircraft and multiple local fire departments are on scene."

Bay County, Florida Emergency Services

The forest service says 35 homes are currently threatened from the fire, and 20 residents have been evacuated.
