TAMPA, Fla. -- The city of Chicago announced all travelers from Florida must self-quarantine for two weeks.

According to an emergency travel order issued by the city of Chicago, travelers from Florida and states with "a COVID-19 new case rate greater than 15 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 resident population per day" must self-quarantine for 14 days or the duration of the traveler's time in Chicago.

Essential workers are exempt from the emergency travel order, the city said.

The announcement comes as Florida once again broke its single-day record for new cases of COVID-19, as the state reports more than 10,000 new cases.

The 10,109 new cases beat the previous record by a little over 500 cases.
