Blue Ridge Beef raw dog food recalled due to Salmonella and Listeria contamination

EATONTON, Ga. -- Blue Ridge Beef of Eatonton, Georgia, is voluntarily recalling BRB Complete raw pet food due to possible contamination by bacteria.

The FDA reports samples its collected and tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogene.

Salmonella and Listeria can cause severe and potentially fatal infections in pets who consume the food and any humans who handle it. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.

People with weakened immune systems or who have chronic medical conditions, pregnant women and the elderly are at the highest risk for complications due to Salmonella and Listeria contamination.

The affected product was sold in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina in two pound chubs that are frozen and can be distinguished by the manufacturing codes:

  • BRB Complete
  • Lot# GA0131
  • Manufacturing date: 01/31/2018

Consumers are encouraged to check the clips of product to ensure that they possess the affected product. Anyone who purchased the above lot of BRB Complete is urged to stop feeding it to their pets and return products to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them immediately.
