HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a person in connection to the death of an FWC Officer in LaBelle.

Julian Keen, Jr., 30, was found fatally shot Sunday morning. Authorities said Keen was assisting at the scene of a hit-and-run.

While giving help, the officer was shot and killed at the scene. Eliceo Hernandez, 20, was arrested for the shooting on Monday.

Deputies say Keen and another man had witnessed a reckless driver.

Keen got into his truck and followed the driver, according to authorities. They say after both Keen and Hernandez stopped, Keen confronted Hernandez and was later shot.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with negligent homicide and is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
