19 dogs died in a house fire at the home of a reputable dog breeder in Orange County Thursday morning.

Orange County Fire Rescue responded to the 3000 block of Bay Lake Rd. at about 5:15 a.m.

They arrived to heavy smoke and the fire was contained to one room, caused by an air handler.

Crews were able to revive about 6 dogs, but 19 died in the fire.

Fire Rescue crews say this was primarily a smoke event, causing significant smoke damage inside of the home.

The dogs who survived are currently being cared for.
