An Atlas 5 rocket that successfully launched Friday morning from Cape Canaveral created quite a buzz in the Tampa Bay area.

As soon as the rocket launched at 6:28 a.m., ABC Action News was flooded by photos and viewers calling about the weird glow in the eastern sky caused by smoke and cloud condensation.

An Atlas 5 rocket launch on September 2 also puzzled sky watchers. United Launch Alliance says the unique trails seen in the sky are created by a combination of the rocket's boosters and unusual atmospheric conditions.

The rocket carried a Mexican communications satellite into geosynchronous orbit 22,300 miles above Earth. The Morelos 3 satellite will provide 3G+ voice, data, internet and video services.
