TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Police said a man broke into a Tampa bakery by breaking through the roof.

The burglary at Ricopan Bakery on Causeway Boulevard in Tampa was caught on surveillance video. The video showed a man breaking a ceiling tile and climbing onto a refrigerator before heading for the safe.

The store's owner said the thief couldn't break the safe, but took cash from a register.

"I got scared because I've been in this place for so many years and it has never happened before," said the bakery's owner who asked us not to identify him.

The break-in happened around 3:30 a.m. on July 21. Tampa Police said the man wore a black hoodie, a black mask and no gloves. Tampa Police are asking for the public's help to identify him.

Police described him as a white Hispanic male with tattoos on both his forearms.

The bakery's owner said the thief seemed confident about where to find money. His employees are now rattled.

"They're afraid to come here so early," said the owner.

The store's owner said he worked odd jobs for years before starting his bakery nearly 10 years ago.

He hopes no one steals from his family, again.

"I was scared. It will probably happen again. Hopefully not, but we are preparing for the worse," said the owner.
