The Tampa woman who adopted 125 kids at the Boys and Girls Club near Seminole Heights made good on her promise.

Carolynn Smith tells ABC Action News she recently learned that The Wilbert Davis Branch Boys and Girls Club did not have a sponsor to adopt the kids this year.

Smith wanted to do something extra special for the kids who otherwise wouldn’t have had much this holiday season. She threw them a holiday party, complete with presents, food, a DJ, the works!

Smith had a goal of $3,500 on her crowdfunding campaign that she quickly surpassed. By the end of her fundraising efforts, she had raised $7,830.  Since she raised a lot more than she asked for, she did something special for the people who work tirelessly with the kids everyday.

ABC Action News was the first to report Smith's story before it went viral.

“We ended up getting all their staff gift cards as well,” Smith told ABC Action News. “They were in tears and shocked.  We also purchased another 20+ gifts for the club to have throughout the year to use for a rewards system. Things like good behavior, grades and conduct.”

Smith has said since she started this journey in the middle of November, “We rise by lifting others.”

It’s something she hopes others are inspired by and moved to help all year long.
