Tampa Police divers recover body of missing swimmer in McKay Bay

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Police divers recovered the body of a missing swimmer on Tuesday night in McKay Bay in Southeast Tampa.

Tampa Police Officers responded to McKay Bay around 7:37 p.m. on Wednesday after witnesses observed a male swimmer go under water who failed to resurface. Divers with the Tampa Police Department and the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office actively searched the waters for the subject.

Just before 10:30 p.m. the body of an adult male swimmer was recovered in the area, according to Tampa Police. 

"It is undetermined why the subject was in the water," Tampa Police wrote in a press release.

The male has not been identified yet by authorities.

No additional information has been released at this time.
