Tampa General Hospital hiring, offering on-the-job training and scholarships

Posted

A local hospital is looking for employees and offering opportunities in healthcare. Many positions don’t require a four year degree and provide new on-the-job training.

Getting prescriptions right is just one important task for pharmacy techs.

“We help patients with whatever they need out at the counter, just keep the flow of the pharmacy running,” Ashley Manderville said.

It’s one of the jobs Tampa General is hiring for and you don’t have to come in with experience.

“You don’t need a degree, you can just have a high school diploma, even a GED to be a pharmacy tech 1,” Manderville said.

TGH has more than 300 open positions in patient transport, dietary services, facilities technicians, housekeeping and technical positions, like pharmacy techs. Once you’re here, they want to promote you. Starting next month, they’re offering a new GED program and in the fall, a new scholarship program for technical jobs.

“They would identify one of seven different technical paths that we have at the hospital and then we would partner with those schools to support them in their journey,” HR manager Andrea Cichon said.

Full-time employees are eligible for up to $16,000 in tuition reimbursement and benefits. Manderville took advantage of tuition reimbursement and a scholarship to become a nurse. She graduated last week.

“That definitely would have put me back years, without having the support of Tampa General and the tuition reimbursement,” Manderville said.
