One of the most moving tributes to fallen U.S. military, the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., packs an emotional wallop.
For this weekend only, a stunning replica of “the Wall” visits Tampa’s gorgeous Veterans Memorial Park and Museum.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall packs a wallop, too .
“Monuments about war are kind of sterile,” says Michael Burns, a POW from the Vietnam War. “But this represents the true cost of the war – most importantly, the human cost. Every one of these names is a story.”
The traveling version of the Wall is three-fifths the size of the original. It is six feet tall and nearly 300 feet long.
The Wall will be in Tampa through Sunday. Veterans Memorial Park is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
