South Westshore Boulevard between West Bay Way Drive and Beachway Drive will close for two months starting next Wednesday May 4th as crews rehab a box culvert and utilities.
"It's going to be a nightmare. Uh oh!” said Pat Ashby.
"Oh, I can't even imagine. I mean this is a major thoroughfare for people who live south of Gandy and up north. It's going to be insane,” said Ashby.
The improvements will inconvenience, but in the long run help Westshore neighbors. For everyone else, the block closure translates into a longer detour down Henderson Boulevard.
"See now I didn't realize it's going to be two months,” said Carol Raymond. "I may have to go the opposite direction and go down Mac Dill."
"It's going to add more on to my time,” she added.
Most who take Westshore north to get to the airport will detour to get onto West Kennedy Boulevard.
Gregory Malinowski will have to find another way to serve customers in the Westshore Business District.
"A lot of businesses are in the immediate areas with that, especially with my business. I visit a lot of companies in the area. Westshore is a major thoroughfare,” he said.
A thoroughfare that won't be an option until July.
"It's going to be a hindrance," said Malinowski.
