TAMPA — Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister's son will not be able to use the "Stand Your Ground" defense in a 2017 incident involving a knife.

Zachary Chronister, also known by the alias ZCHRONIK, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

According to the criminal report affidavit, Chronister took out a knife during a confrontation and slashed the victim in the face. He reportedly continued attacking the victim, stabbing him in the shoulder.

Chronister was in court Tuesday morning when the judge in his case decided he did use deadly force and there was no justification for it. Judge Christopher Nash said Chronister will not be able to use Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law as a defense.

The trial is set for September 11.
