Tampa Police are currently investigating a shooting of a 17.5-month-old girl. It happened at the Clipper Bay Apartments located at 6727 S. Lois Avenue in Tampa.
Police say they got the call at 4:12 p.m. about an injured toddler. Investigators determined once arriving on scene, that the child suffered a single gunshot wound.
Amaya Shafi, 17.5-months-old, was taken to the hospital by her parents where she died from her injuries.
Investigators are currently interviewing family members to determine how the child was shot.
At this time, no arrests have been made. Amaya will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
