Police: Be cautious of hockey ticket scams

Posted

If you're a hockey fan headed to Tampa Bay Lightning games in Tampa, police are asking you to be aware of ticket scams and fake tickets.

Officers from the Tampa Police Department say they confiscated about 25 counterfeit tickets that were turned into the box office during the May 20 game versus the Penguins. Police are still working to determine who sold the bogus tickets, and asking anyone with information to provide it to them.

Before exchanging cash for tickets, police encourage people to meet at a police department or public place where there are surveillance cameras, and if possible, take a photo of the ticket seller's ID or the tag on their car.
