New Publix approved for USF Tampa campus

Posted
Publix has the go-ahead from the state to build a 29,000-square-foot store on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida.

The Florida Board of Governors approved the plans Thursday. The store will become Publix’s first university campus location in the state.

In a statement, the university said the store will “change the face of the campus.”

The store will be on an unused piece of land at the corner of Fletcher Avenue and North Palm Drive, and is expected to be completed by the end of next year. It will be part of USF’s Student Housing Village, which will be able to house more than 10,000 students.

Students will be able to work at the Publix part time, according to the university, and the company will have two job fairs each year on campus.
