New, affordable single-family homes going up in East Tampa in hopes of revitalizing the area

The Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. is celebrating the completion of the first four of more than a dozen new homes being built in East Tampa.

The single-family homes have three bedrooms and two bathrooms and expected to sell for $165,000. The objective in building up the neighborhood is to not only revitalize it, but also make it a choice destination for families looking for a place to live. 

The new project is located on Columbus Avenue between 15th Street and 22nd Street.

Financial assistance is also available with closing costs for eligible parties up to $15,000. The four homes that are already up have income restrictions of $47,850 per family of four.

The Corporation to Develop Community of Tampa, Inc has assisted more than 11,000 youth and adults acquire employability skills and vocational training, resulting in a 35 percent increase in wages earned.

They also provided 3,560 families with housing counseling creating 1,042 new homeowners and allowing an additional 1,875 families to keep their homes through foreclosure prevention.
