Mom accused of drowning 4-year-old daughter in Hillsborough River found incompetent to stand trial

A mom accused of drowning her 4-year-old daughter in the Hillsborough River in August has been found incompetent to stand trial and will be placed in a mental facility. 

Shakayla Denson, 26, was arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of 4-year-old Je'Hyrah Daniels and grand theft auto on August 2, 2018.

Investigators say Denson had just stolen a car - a grey Nissan Altima - from Jordan Auto Repair located on N. 40th Street in Tampa. She parked the car on Rome Avenue just north of Aileen Street before she reportedly took her 4-year-old into the Hillsborough River and left her to drown.
