It's a number you should save to your phone before hitting the roads this 4th of July

Road Rangers prep for high volume of traffic

About 44 million Americans will hit the roads this fourth of July weekend but what happens if you get a flat tire or run out gas? There is one free resource you should be calling before ever dialing AAA.

"There's always something going on in the highway," said 11-year Road Ranger veteran Harold Griffin.

He travels around 250 miles up and down the interstate, every single day. He's on the lookout for drivers in need of help. Rangers can help with tire changes, no gas or other minor emergency repairs. Their main goal is keeping you safe on the interstate.

"I'm scared by the side of the road because there are so many cars coming by," said one of the stranded drivers Griffin helped.

"They are not alone. With a smiling face I say 'Everything will be alright.'" he says.

Getting help from a ranger when you are having a road emergency is incredibly easy, all you have to do is dial *347. It's a number Griffin wants you to remember this 4th of July.

"I will be working and it will be a busy week," he promises.

However, he also warns, he can't make miracles. Certain tires, especially of foreign cars, just won't come off with his tools. If you're stranded, you'll need a tow truck or a buddy but when in doubt dial *347.
