Detectives recovered more than $200,000 worth of stolen watches, jewelry, purses, and electronics from at least 30 different area homes in the last few weeks.
Wednesday afternoon, victims started arriving at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office to retrieve some of the valuables they thought they would never see again.
One of the victims, Larry Richards, had about 50 watches and thousands of dollars in his wife's jewelry stolen.
He told us that early last month he returned home to find his back lanai and window busted out and his home ransacked.
He got the call this morning and rushed down to carefully go through all the items laid out, looking for all the watches he's collected over the years.
"I just figured I would never see them again. I just kissed them goodbye," he said.
Deputies served a search warrant on Tuesday at an apartment in Lakeland. They found all of the stolen items in one apartment and arrested Dustin Peters and Harry Daymon.
Both of them had just been released from prison, and now they are likely going right back.
"Obviously if you look at the locations they hit, they were selecting their targets very carefully, trying to get the most out of each location," said Sgt. Allen Hill with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The home burglaries occurred at homes in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and as far away as Lake County.
