Hillsborough County deputies are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on Tuesday night.

Around 10:30 p.m. deputies responded to West Waters Avenue just west of Hanley Road in Tampa.

When deputies arrived they determined that a suspect in a dark colored Toyota had fatally struck a pedestrian before driving off.

Deputies determined that the pedestrian, Sherry Hunter, 61, was crossing West Waters Avenue when she was struck and killed. Deputies say Hunter was not crossing in a crosswalk.
