Hillsborough County Deputies responded to a double shooting at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday morning in Clair-Mel City.
When they arrived to the 1500 block of Wishing Well Way at Reindeer Road, they found two victims, a male and a female, that had been shot. Both victims were transported to Tampa General. The female victim died from her injuries.
Colonel Donna Lusczynski provided an update at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday. She says the man and a woman were shot during a neighborhood BBQ. Deputies say they believe the shooting wasn't random and that the suspect knew the victims.
The suspect fled the scene. There is not a threat to the area, but deputies are working on a couple of leads at this time.
No arrests have been made.
