Cycle the City celebrates Riverwalk completion

Posted

The last segment of downtown Tampa's Riverwalk will be opened after a celebration in its honor on Saturday morning.

A two-way bike track will also be opened on Cass Street, which city officials say is the first in the state of Florida.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at Perry Harvey Sr. Park near the gateway statues. Riders will be able to ride down to the Riverwalk on the south side of the Laurel Street Bridge where Mayor Bob Buckhorn will cut the ribbon on the final segment of the Riverwalk.

After the ribbon cutting, a Tampa Riverwalk Scavenger Hunt will be held. In addition, there will also be food carts and music.

Bonus: The first 100 people to enter the scavenger hunt will get a T-shirt, and any team that finishes will be entered for a chance to win a Riverwalk staycation for two.
