Tampa police honored a courageous middle schooler Monday, days after her quick thinking helped them catch a suspected burglar.
Annabelle Sanders, 11, made a dramatic 911 phone call during a burglary at her home while she and her brother were barricaded in a bedroom. Her quick thinking kept her and her brother safe and led to the apprehension of the suspect.
She was honored Monday by Tampa Police Chief Eric Ward and Nicolas Ware, the dispatcher that she spoke to during the emergency.
The presentation took place at Coleman Middle School in Tampa, where the girl attends 6th grade.
