Hundreds of Jeep owners gathered on the beach near Gandy Blvd. on Sunday afternoon. The participants were members of the Tampa Jeep Krewe.
"It's a first responder appreciation event, we are out here giving out free meals to pretty much anyone with a badge," said organizer Mike Rinella.
He said several group members are also police officers, so they decided to organize this event after the Dallas police shootings.
"I think it makes their job so much more dangerous," said Rinella.
Group members also picked up trash along the beach while they were there. Organizer David Myer said he hopes people passing by will see the law enforcement support.
"Everything that they do for all of us, just need to pay back and show them how much they are appreciated," said Myer.
