A St. Pete standoff came to a peaceful end Monday morning. Police arrested a man after he took a loaded weapon and barricaded himself inside a home with his young son.

After a tense couple of hours on 28th Street, police drove off with a man suspected of arguing with his girlfriend and firing a gun before grabbing his six-year-old son and barricading himself inside a neighbor's house.

Fabian Williams, 31, came out of the home around 3 a.m. after several hours inside. His son was unharmed.

Williams now faces assault and child abuse charges. As a convicted felon, Williams didn't have the firearm legally.

His criminal history includes an arrest for burglary, auto theft, cocaine possession and more.
