Suspicious fire damages St. Petersburg home

Fire crews are investigating the cause of a suspicious fire that damaged a St. Pete house late Sunday night.

Authorities received a call at 11:34 p.m. of a fire at the home located at 1501 19th Avenue S. When crews arrived on scene they found smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters found a dog in the bedroom of the home unharmed. Animal Control officers took away the dog for the owner to claim.

The fire is being investigated as suspicious as there is power or water running to the home.

Crews collected evidence of the fire for processing. There is no word on the amount of damage the fire caused.

St. Petersburg Police and the Fire Marshal are investigating to determine how the fire began.
