Former Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Doug Waechter’s Fossil Park Under-8 All-Star baseball team is just one of four teams in the state of Florida to advance to the Cal Ripken (Division of Babe Ruth League) Southeast Regional Tournament in Tennessee this week.
The 8-year-olds from St. Pete won the state championship earlier this month and now they have their sights set on a bigger prize: Winning a regional championship.
What makes this Fossil Park team’s season even more magical is their special bond with a 3-year-old girl and the sister of one its players, Chloe Grimes.
