The St. Petersburg police department says a woman called them to report that her 3-year-old son uncovered what appeared to be an old grenade.
It was found on a private beach area behind a vacant home at 2834 Pelham Road North.
The apparent grenade was partially buried in the sand below the sea wall.
St. Pete police, Tampa bomb squad and the Fire Department responded to the scene and determined the grenade was actually just a toy. The scene has been given the all clear.
