St. Petersburg Police say numerous tips helped them catch the man who attacked a USF student partying on St. Patrick's Day.

Officers say at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18 a man punched 26-year-old Brian Neal in the face in front of Detroit Liquors at the corner of Central Avenue and 2nd Street.

Neal immediately fell backward and struck his head on the pavement. He suffered very serious injuries that required treatment at a local hospital. At one point, Neal was listed in critical condition at the hospital.

Earlier this week, Police released the following video showing the suspect walking with two other men along Central Avenue.

Police received numerous tips via Facebook and TIP411 that helped detectives identify 23-year-old Zachary Allen of Largo as the man who punched Neal.

Officers brought Allen to Police Headquarters on Thursday for questioning and then took him to the Pinellas County Jail. He is charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

Allen was released from jail Thursday night after posting $10,000 bond.
