Police arrest suspect accused of killing St. Pete woman

St. Petersburg police have made an arrest in a homicide that occurred on Tuesday morning.

Police say that a call came in at 8:25 a.m. about a shooting that occurred at 1100 James Street South. The report has now been deemed a homicide after police found a 35-year-old female deceased on scene.

 

 

The victim has been identified as Melinda Soria. Police say the suspect, Joshua Thompson, 27, was in a relationship with the victim. He was taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree murder.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, SWAT responded to 40th Avenue South and 8th Street. After 1 p.m. SWAT confirmed that the suspect was not at the location.
