St. Pete Police are investigating a fatal stabbing on Monday night.

Around 7:00 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of 45th Street North to a report of an injured man.

Police found 22-year-old Trevor Scott suffering from a knife wound in his upper body. Paramedics transported Scott to Bayfront Health where he later died.

In the meantime, police received a medical call from the 4600 block of 5th Avenue South. There they found 23-year-old Thomas Peruchi with lacerations to his leg. Through their investigation, officers linked the two incidents together.

Detectives determined the two men knew each other and Peruchi drove to Scott's home. Police say Scott got into Peruchi's car. The two men got into a fight and Peruchi stabbed Scott.

Authorities say Scott was able to get out of Peruchi's car and call for help. Peruchi then drove off.

Peruchi was taken to Bayfront Health for treatment and was later transported to Pinellas County Jail.

Peruchi was booked and charged with first degree murder.
