UPDATE | Pinellas Park police investigators have identified the victim of Friday night's shooting as 20-year-old Maurice A. Cole of Colorado Springs, CO, police officials said.
Cole had only been staying at the apartment complex where the shooting took place since about July 16, Pinellas Park police Sgt. Mike Lynch said in a statement.
At this time investigators have not yet identified a suspect or a specific motive for the shooting.
The investigation continues.

ORIGINAL STORY | PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Pinellas Park Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in the parking lot of 4030 78th Avenue.
Police responded to the parking lot of the Bell Apartments around 7 p.m. Friday night. PPPD says that a 20-year-old adult male was shot and transported from the scene to a local hospital for treatment where he later passed away.
Police believe that the victim's girlfriend lives at the apartment complex, at this time they do not know whether or not he lived at the same location.
Investigators believe that the victim was in the parking lot speaking with another subject when the shooting took place. The unknown suspect fled the scene following the shooting and investigators do not believe the shooting was a random act.
The deceased name has not been released pending family notification.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
