Beachgoers now have a new way to get to and from the beaches and shops on Treasure Island and Madeira Beach. A new ferry service opened on Saturday.
“We have nine stops that will take you to various destinations,” said Captain Mark Hubbard.
The ferry servicing Madeira Beach runs two days a week until March.
Stephanie Trichopoulos brought her son on the boat. She said it was a great way to get to enjoy the coastal areas without dealing with parking issues.
“Instead of taking a car you can go to the different restaurants go to the different parks, see things you wouldn’t even go and see because of the traffic,” said Trichopoulos.
Captain Hubbard believes more routes along Pinellas County will be made available.
"Someone once said it's going to take a lot to get us out of our autos and look at this," said Hubbard.
