The Florida Highway Patrol reports a 23-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash late Monday night in Wimauma.

Troopers say Michael Allen Taylor was riding his 1994 Kawasaki southbound on U.S. 301 around 11:11 p.m. For an unknown reason, Taylor crossed over into the northbound lanes of U.S. 301 at Stanford Road and crashed head-on into a 2009 Honda Civic.

The FHP says Taylor was ejected from his motorcycle in the crash and died at the accident scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The male driver of the Civic and his female passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported both to Tampa General Hospital for treatment. Both people inside the Civic were wearing their seatbelts.

Troopers do not believe the accident to be alcohol-related. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation by the FHP.
