SARASOTA, Fla. -- A Sarasota man has been arrested after his wife found child pornography in his dresser and turned him in.
Sarasota County deputies say that the wife of Charles Parsons, 48, found a 16GB flash drive with what she believed was child pornography in his dresser drawer.
Deputies say that Parsons and his wife live with their two sons, ages 11 and 12 in Sarasota. Parsons' wife said he had been acting suspiciously. She said he had been hiding his phone from her and was being very protective of his online activity. This prompted her to search the house for anything that could explain the unusual behavior.
When she opened the flash drive, deputies say she saw images of 6, 7 and 8-year-old nude female children engaging in sexual activity.
She explained that they have no Internet service at their home but that they were able to access WiFi from a router at Parsons' mothers' home which is directly across the street.
Sarasota County detectives obtained a search warrant and found 40 video files and 2,076 still images on the flash drive. Detectives say a large number of files had already been deleted.
Parsons was arrested on Thursday and transported to the Sarasota County jail where he was charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography. The forensic processing of the digital devices seized during the execution of the search warrant is ongoing.
