SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — FWC crews located a body in the search for a missing boater on Myakka River. The body was located around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Investigators say that the deceased was the grandfather of the two boys who made it ashore after their boat sank.
According to the FWC, a Good Samaritan rescued two juveniles, who were standing in shallow water, wearing their life jackets. The Good Samaritan called 911 around 10:20 Thursday morning.
FWC says there were a total of three people on board the boat. Crews searched for the third person for about seven hours Thursday.
Part of the ongoing investigation will include determining what caused the boat to sink and talking to the two minors who were on board.
The identities of the three individuals have not been released.
The two minors, who were rescued, were evaluated by Sarasota County EMS and are expected to be ok.
