BRADENTON, Fla. — The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says a three-year-old boy was critically injured from a dog attack on Saturday.
The toddler's grandmother called authorities around 2:40 p.m. and said her two "Pit Bulls" were attacking the toddler. EMS responded and the child was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses told authorities the dog was laying by a fence line in the shade when it jumped up and attacked the toddler for unknown reasons. The attack severely injured the toddlers head, according to the sheriff's office.
The grandmother and aunt of the child were able to get the dog to let go. That dog and the grandmother's other dog were taken into custody by animal control, though it's unknown if the second dog was involved in the attack.
