A stray bullet hit a car as it was traveling northbound on US 301 in Manatee County on Wednesday.
The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, heard a loud noise outside her vehicle as she was driving her car on US 301. She later discovered damage from a bullet hitting her passenger door. The bullet didn't penetrate the car and wasn't stuck in the door. The bullet wasn't found. No injuries were reported.
"I heard and felt this big impact on my door, it just scared the hell out of me," said the driver.
ABC Actioin News spoke to the victim and she pointed out how close the bullet came to hitting her window and she said she has no doubt that if it had hit a couple inches higher, she would have been hit.
The driver was on her way to a weekly art class in Bradenton when it happened.
Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, but assures the general public is not in any danger driving on US 301.
"We certainly don't have any evidence that someone's out there, that's taking shots at vehicles going by," said Dave Bristow, with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
