SIESTA KEY, Fla. — The Siesta Key Association is holding a virtual hearing on Wednesday to oppose an offshore fish farm.
The first session will take place at 10:30 a.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m.
"Despite overwhelming public opposition to the Villela Epsilon offshore fish farm at the EPA hearing in Sarasota, the Army Corps of Engineers is set to issue a permit without holding a hearing," the event description says. "The farm, the first in a proposed Gulf aquaculture opportunity area, poses grave danger to Sarasota marine life, the ecosystem, tourism and the economy."
