City leaders in Longboat Key have ordered the demolition of the Colony Resort. The property is one of Longboat Key's oldest and biggest resorts, but it has been vacant for several years as its owners have been involved in lawsuits.
City leaders ordered the demolition just ahead of hurricane season, because of safety concerns.
Developers plan to show the new plans for the property during a 2 p.m. press conference on Thursday.
