A 74-year-old Venice man has been arrested for possession of child pornography.
Hartley Haines was arrested by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, March 15.
Detectives say they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after a particular IP address was used to download multiple files previously identified as containing child pornography.
Detectives confirmed the location of the IP address and obtained a search warrant for the property.
Deputies searched the property and did a forensic scan of his computer and found 40 images determined to be child pornography.
Haines was charged with 40 felony counts of Possession: Sexual Performance by a Child. He was released Saturday on $80,000 bond.
