SARASOTA, Fla. — The Sarasota community is sending off its police officer, as he is on his way to deployment in Kuwait.
Just two weeks ago, Luis Colon was sworn in as a Sarasota Police Officer. Now, Officer Colon will be going from serving the local community to serving our country with the Air Force Reserves, specifically the 927th Security Forces Squadron.
He was only sworn in 2 weeks ago but Officer Colon is being deployed to Kuwait for the next 7 months. He’s in the Air Force Reserves & serves with the 927th Security Forces Squadron stationed out of @MacDill_AFB MacDill in Tampa. Thank you for your service, sir! Be safe! pic.twitter.com/CYMwTp9qVV

"Thank you for your service, sir! Be safe!" the Sarasota Police Department tweeted Monday night.
Colon will be deployed to Kuwait for the next seven months, according to Sarasota Police.
