VENICE, Fla. -- The National Weather Service is looking into reports of a possible tornado touching down in Venice on Monday night.

A viewer shared videos of the possible tornado sweeping through Wellfield Park.

An official with the city of Venice said first responders in the area fielded multiple calls regarding a possible tornado between 5:40 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The National Weather Service said it is looking into reports of a tornado touching down in that area at a similar time.

The city official said field goal posts at Wellfield Park were damaged from Monday's severe weather. Over at a nearby Publix, cars were pushed into other cars and trees were ripped out in the shopping center parking lot, the city official said.

The storms also damaged Publix's store roof, knocked out power and forced the grocery store to close for the night, the city official said.

No injuries were reported, according to the city official.

The National Weather Service is looking into the possible tornado's strength and its exact track.
