NORTH PORT, Fla. – A 47-year-old North Port man is behind bars following his arrest on a felony weapons charge.

Warren Scott Berryman Jr. was booked into the Sarasota County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $75,000.

According to investigators, officers with the North Port Police Department responded to a ‘shots fired’ call near Shumock Ave. late Thursday. When they arrived, the officers discovered a vehicle parked in a driveway riddled with bullet holes.

While on scene, the officers heard gunshots and quickly set up a perimeter. Aerial and K-9 units were called in to assist in locating the source of the gunfire with negative results.

On Friday, Berryman was identified as the source of the shots. A NPPD report states Berryman was apparently upset with the owner of the vehicle, the result of some sort of dispute.

Berryman is facing one count of felony use of a firearm, one count of criminal mischief and one count of discharging a firearm in public.
