Deputies charged a Manatee County woman with aggravated child abuse Wednesday afternoon after learning she burned her son with a hot iron.
Her 3-year-old son made comments to a daycare worker Tuesday that his mother, Derby Sanon, had burned him.
Daycare workers noticed the victim had a fresh blister on the bottom of his right foot and reported it to the sheriff's office.
Sanon told told police that she touched the bottom of her son's foot with a hot iron as a form of punishment after he urinated in his bed overnight. She claimed she did not know it would cause a blister.
Child Protection Investigators continue to work the case.
