Free lunch during spring break for kids in Manatee County

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — The school district in Manatee County is making sure kids are still fed during spring break.

The district's Food and Nutrition Services Department will provide free lunches for kids age 18 and under as part of its Spring Break Food Service Program.

RECOMMENDED:

The food will be delivered at the following stops from Monday through Friday.

North Locations (Palmetto):

  • 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Turner Chapel
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Lincoln Park

South Bus Locations (Bradenton):

  • 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Southeast High School
  • 12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. Bradenton Village Apartments
  • 1 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Pride Park

Caboose Locations (Bradenton):

  • 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Manatee Mobile Home Park
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. City Stop

The district says Tropicana will be hosting fun, kid-friendly community events at the City Stop location on Tuesday and Thursday.

"This program is designed to ensure that children have access to nutrition during the time when school lunches are not available and to help ensure that their students have a healthy body and mind for the remainder of the school year," a press release said. "This service is not based on income status, and all children in Manatee County who are 18 and younger will be able to participate."

The buses will have indoor and outdoor seating to allow the kids to enjoying their lunches in air conditioning or the shade of an awning. The food will include cheeseburgers, corn dogs, and pizza, along with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
