MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities in Manatee County are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that happened Saturday evening.

Deputies say Jeffrey Long, 40, shot and killed his wife Jennifer Long, 39, while they were arguing before turning the gun on himself.
The couples juvenile daughter was in her room at the time. A long time family friend who also lives at the home was outside during the shooting.
The couple were arguing in their master suite when the shooting occurred. Deputies say they had reportedly been having marital problems.
Their daughter and friend heard three loud pops before running into the room and starting life saving efforts, according to deputies. But they were both pronounced dead when EMS arrived on the scene.
No other information is available at this time. The investigation in on-going.
